While travelling

Journey

By default, your child uses the Rejsekort app in exactly the same way as an adult. It’s a good idea to go through these steps together with your child, so they fully understand how to use the app correctly. That way, you’ll be sure your child has a valid ticket for their journey.

1. Start your journey – Check in

Open the Rejsekort app – the nearest station or stop will automatically appear.
You need to be near a station or stop to check in. If you're not, you'll see an error message explaining the issue.

You must check in before boarding public transport. This ensures your ticket is valid.

Check in by swiping right.

2. Check in additional passengers, bicycle or dog

Add any additional travellers (adults, children, bicycle, or dog) before swiping to check in.
Remember: you check yourself in when you swipe at the end – so add everyone else first!

Tap the blue circle on the right side above the swipe button. Now you can select how many additional people, bicycles, or dogs are travelling with you.
You can add up to 27 additional passengers (besides yourself).

Next to the blue circle, you’ll now see the number of extra passengers, bikes, and dogs.
Once you swipe to check in, this option is locked and the circle turns grey.

3. Travel and show your ticket

Enjoy your trip without worries.
If a ticket inspector comes by, simply tap "Show ticket" in the center of the screen so they can scan your QR code. The inspector may ask to see ID.

They will also be able to see any additional travellers you've included in your check-in.

When switching to another form of transport, you do nothing in the app. Wait to check out until your journey is completely finished.

4. End your journey – Check out

Once your journey is fully completed, and you’ve left your last mode of transport, swipe left to check out.
The app takes care of the rest.

Do you sometimes forget to check out? Then activate Smart check-out to get help.

5. After your journey

The Rejsekort app calculates your travel fare and bills your trips once per day.
An invoice is emailed to the adult responsible for payment.

The ticket price will include any additional passengers, bikes, or dogs. The total price is shown, including the adult’s own travel, if applicable.

Any discounts your child is entitled to are automatically applied to the invoice each day.

Payment collection:
You’re charged once daily for all journeys made during that day. The amount is automatically withdrawn from the payment method linked in your (the adult’s) app.

With the Rejsekort app, your child can buy tickets for public transport throughout Denmark with the transport companies connected to the Rejsekort app.

Your child can also use the app in selected areas of Sweden (Malmö C Station, Hyllie Station, and Triangeln Station) as well as on a single bus route in Northern Germany (Bus line 110 Sønderborg–Flensburg).

Please note: The app cannot be used on Bornholm with BAT.

Yes, absolutely. Your child can check in friends, siblings, their bicycle, and dog using their own Rejsekort as an app—just like an adult can.

Just remember, there is a limit of 28 additional travelers. If a dog is included, the child can only bring one bicycle at the same time.

As with an adult profile, the child checks in additional travelers by tapping the blue circle above the check-in line.

Yes, you can. In your own app, you can see the trips your child has taken and that you have paid for.

However, you cannot view all travel details for your child’s trips. These details can be seen on your child’s phone. Later in 2025, it will be possible to view all travel details on your own phone as well.

On your phone, you can find information about your child’s trips by tapping the menu in the top left corner of the app. Then tap Travel History and go to the Payments tab. Here, you can see all completed payments for both your own and your child’s trips. Payment is processed once per day. Under each payment, you can see who traveled. This information is available for 36 months.

On your child’s phone, go to the menu and tap Travel History. Here, travel details are shown, but no payment information, as payments are linked to your profile. Later in 2025, children aged 15–17 will be able to add their own payment card and view their own payments.

You can always contact customer service if you are unsure or wish to raise a concern. You can do this directly in the app from both your phone and your child’s phone. You can also call Rejsekort Customer Centre at 70113333.

Yes, you do.

When the day’s travel is processed (typically during the night), you will receive a receipt by email. The receipt will show both your child’s and your own trips combined into a total amount. You will not be able to see separate totals for your child’s and your own travel.

You can opt out of receiving receipts by email. To do this, go to the menu, tap Settings, then the Account tab. At the bottom of the page, under Notifications, you can deselect Receipt via email.

Check in and out

If your child forgets to check out, the Rejsekort app will either send a reminder or automatically check them out during the following night.

If the fare for your child’s journey has been calculated incorrectly (for example, if the route was not properly located), you should contact Rejsekort Customer Centre as soon as possible.
Call 70 11 33 33 – open on weekdays 8:00–18:00, and Saturdays 10:00–15:00.
Press 3 for Rejsekort, then 2 for Rejsekort as an app.

You can also write to us via the contact form in the Rejsekort app, under the specific journey in your child’s Travel History.
To find Travel History, tap the three horizontal lines in the top left corner of the app.

If you want help reminding your child to check out, we recommend enabling Notifications and activating Smart Check-out.

Please note:
You cannot use the existing Check Udvej app to report a missed check-out in the Rejsekort app.
The Check Udvej app can only be used with Rejsekort as a card.

The child must check in before boarding public transport.
If the child checks in after the journey has started, they will not have had a valid ticket from the beginning of the trip. This may be considered misuse, and the child may risk receiving a fine during ticket inspection.

The child does not need to check in again when switching between different means of transport during the same journey.

The child should only check out once the journey is fully completed, and they have stepped off the final mode of transport.

No, once the child has checked out, the journey is considered complete, and you will be charged for that finished trip.
If the child checks in again, you will be charged for a new journey.

Your child’s trips are not combined in the same way as with the physical Rejsekort.
This means that linked journeys on the physical card—also known as a “continued journey”—do not exist in the Rejsekort app.

Fare inspections

During the inspection of your child's ticket in Rejsekort app, the inspector must be able to see your child's name, age, and birthdate. The inspector may ask for ID. Read more in our  privacy policy.
