Refund on your personal Rejsekort (Personal, Flex, Commuter Card or Commuter Combi)
If you had funds remaining on your Rejsekort when the system closed on 30 June 2026, your remaining balance and any eligible remaining card value will automatically be refunded in mid-August 2026. Please note that it is not possible to get your refund in a sales location.

Remaining card value
You may be entitled to a refund of the remaining value of your card.
The remaining card value is the unused portion of the purcahse price, calculated according to when you bought your card.
Conditions for a refund of the remaining card value:
When you purchased your Rejsekort, you paid DKK 50 for the card itself (DKK 80 for a Rejsekort Anonymous). A Rejsekort is valid for fire years, regardless of card type. As the physical Rejsekort has now been discontinued, your card my still have had remaining validity that can no longer be used.
If your card was purchased on or before 14 December 2024, you are intitled to a refund of the remaining card value. If your card was purchased on or after 15 December 2024, you are not entitled to a refund of the remaining card value.
The final refund amount will be calculated and refunded during mid-August 2026. The refunded remaining card value will always be less than the amount you originally pais for the card. For more information, please refer to the current Card Terms and Conditions.
Dispose of the card
After you’ve had your money refunded, you’re free to throw the card away. As a general rule, your Rejsekort should be disposed of as general waste, both at home and at the recycling center. If you’re unsure, follow your municipality’s waste disposal guidelines. The physical Rejsekort is made of plastic with a built-in chip that contains metal. The materials cannot be separated, so the card cannot be sorted as plastic.
How to travel in the future
Even if the physical Rejsekort is being closed, you can fortunately still travel by bus, train, metro and light rail. Read more here and see an overview of your options below:
Rejsekort app: Check in and out in the app and pay for your trips on an ongoing basis at the same price that you know from the physical Rejsekort.
Rejsebillet app: Buy your prepaid ticket, Commuter Card or Youth Card in the app.
Basiskort – physical card: Check in and out on stands and pay for your trips on an ongoing basis at the same price that you know from the physical Rejsekort. Travel anonymously by topping up the card.
