Remaining amount

It may be beneficial to close the card in Self-service already now. This is because you will get your money faster if you close the card yourself now than if you wait until the system closes.
You can close your Rejsekort by logging in to Self-service before it automatically closes on 29 May 2026.

If you wait to close your card until after 29 May 2026, and you have money on the card when it closes, it may take up to approximately two months before the money is automatically transferred to your NemKonto.

Note: Even if you close the card, you still have access to Self-service and can view your travel history and registered information.

Go to guide: How to close your Rejsekort.
If you close a Rejsekort with Commuter Combi that has an active period, the value of the days that have passed plus the value of eight travel days will be deducted. The amount will be paid out to your NemKonto.

If you have travel days remaining on your Rejsekort with Commuter Combi after 29 May, the remaining travel days will automatically be paid out to your NemKonto within approximately two months after the Rejsekort has been closed.
Your Rejsekort with Commuter Combi closes at the end of the last period you have prepaid – however no later than 28 May. You therefore cannot travel with your Commuter Combi after 28 May 2026.

Under certain conditions, you can have the remaining card price paid out. The remaining card price is the value that the card represents in relation to when you purchased it.
When the Rejsekort system closes on 29 May 2026, your Rejsekort closes at the same time, and under the conditions below you can have the remaining card price paid out.

Conditions for payment of remaining card price:
When you bought your personal Rejsekort, you paid 50 kroner for the card itself.
A Rejsekort is valid for 5 years regardless of type.
When the physical Rejsekort closes on 29 May 2026, there may be some validity remaining on the card that you cannot use.
If the card was purchased no later than 14 December 2024, you can get your proportional remaining card price refunded.
If the card was purchased from 15 December 2024, you will not receive any remaining card price refunded.
You will only be informed of the final amount for the remaining card price when the repayment takes place after May 2026.
The remaining card price will always be less than what you paid for the card.
Read the applicable card terms and conditions at any time for more information here.

If you want the remaining card price paid out
This only applies if your card was purchased no later than 14 December 2024:
• You must not close the card now.
• Wait until your physical Rejsekort automatically closes on 29 May 2026.
If you wish to close the card before May 2026
• You can have the card closed and have the money on it paid out.
• You cannot get money back for the card itself (remaining card price) – even if you would normally be entitled to it.

Therefore, also be aware of when you make a manual renewal at the latest depending on which type of transport you will travel with if you travel on 28 May 2026.

As the repayment period is expected to be extended after the system closes, it will for example be an advantage for you to ensure that you do not renew a period that extends beyond and including 28 May 2026.

If you wish to stop your Top-up agreement before 29 May 2026 to avoid having money on the card that you must wait to get back, you must do so via Self-service.

Last day of travel

If you check in with your card before the card readers close at 23:59 pm on 28 May 2026, you can continue your journey after midnight.
You can still check out after your journey ends on 29 May 2026 until 06:00 am.

Travel across midnight on 28–29 May 2026:
If you check in with your Rejsekort on 28 May, and the journey is only completed after midnight, i.e. on 29 May, your Rejsekort will still be valid as a ticket. However, please note that from midnight you cannot check in again if you change means of transport during your journey. You can still check out after midnight, and your first check-in will still be valid as a ticket if you meet ticket inspection.

If you forget to check out after a journey across midnight, you can use Check Udvej to report a forgotten check-out. You can do this until 3 June 2026 at 23:59 pm.
After this, you must contact Rejsekort Customer Centre to report a forgotten check-out.

3 June 2026 is the last day you can use the Check Udvej app for a forgotten check-out.
8 June 2026 is the last day to accept the outcome of our decision after you have reported a forgotten check-out via Check Udvej.

Self-service

30 June 2026 is provisionally the last day you can access Self-service. From 29 May up to and including 30 June 2026, you will only be able to carry out the following actions in Self-service:
• access your travel history
• change your contact information

Please note that Self-service may close earlier than 30 June, however not earlier than 1 June 2026. Card type

On most cards it states which type of card it is, for example Commuter Pass, School Pass, Rejsekort Corporate. However, on Rejsekort Personal, Flex and Anonymous it does not state which type of card it is. You will always be able to recognise Rejsekort Personal and Rejsekort with Commuter Combi as your name is stated on it and there may also be a picture of you. However, Rejsekort Flex and Anonymous may look the same.

You can also check by placing the card in a Rejsekort machine or by going to Self-service, where you will find an overview of your card(s) with information about rejsekort number and card type.

If you do not have a login for Self-service or cannot see your card in the overview in Self-service, it is most likely because you have a Rejsekort Anonymous. If you want to be completely sure, you can check the back of your Rejsekort: If you see a map of Denmark, it is a Rejsekort Anonymous.

Personal data

We process the information you provide to us and that we collect about you in connection with your use of your Rejsekort responsibly, with respect for your privacy and of course in accordance with the applicable data protection rules. You can always read more about our processing of your information in the privacy policy for Rejsekort here.

Special conditions

Death – if the card holder is deceased, Rejsekort and Rejseplan A/S receive information about this via the CPR register. The customer’s Rejsekort is then automatically closed and the money is sent to the deceased’s NemKonto, if it is open. If the deceased’s NemKonto is closed, the money is sent to the estate.

Emigrated – if you have emigrated and still have an active Rejsekort, the card is not closed automatically. You must instead contact Rejsekort Customer Centre and request to have the money paid out via your IBAN number.
You can contact Rejsekort Customer Centre by phone on 70 11 33 33.

Dispose of the card

As a starting point, your Rejsekort must be disposed of in residual waste, both at home and at the recycling station (small combustible waste). If you are in doubt, you must follow the waste rules in your municipality. The Rejsekort consists of plastic with a built-in chip that contains metal. The materials cannot be separated, and therefore the card cannot be sorted as plastic.

Alternatives to the physical Rejsekort

Before the physical Rejsekort closes, it will be possible to buy Commuter Combi in the Rejsekort app or on the new physical card alternative, the Basiskort. You can order Commuter Combi on the new Self-service for the Basiskort here or at selected sales outlets from 3 March 2026.
