Rejsekort Personal
Important dates
The physical Rejsekort closes
The physical Rejsekort will be phased out. The last check-in for buses, local trains, and light rail in Jutland and Funen is on 28 May 2026. On 29 June 2026, the final check-in applies in Zealand and on DSB and GoCollective trains.
The extra month is intended to ensure a smooth transition to the new solutions, as many people on Zealand still travel with the physical Rejsekort, and a few ticket types for Basiskort will only be ready later.
If you no longer travel with the physical Rejsekort, you do not need to do anything.
Important dates
Here you can see the most important dates for the gradual closure:
16 May 2026 is the last day you can buy/order a new physical Personal Rejsekort, Flex, Commuter Combi and Commuter Card.
28 May 2026 until 23:59 is the last day you can travel with the physical Rejsekort in:
• buses, local trains and light rail in Jutland and on Funen
20 June 2026 is the last day you can order a replacement card for Personal Rejsekort, Flex, Commuter Combi and Commuter Card if you lose your physical Rejsekort. The price of a replacement card is the same as for a new card: 50 kroner.
If you order a replacement card, you will not get the proportional remaining card price refunded when Rejsekort closes – only any remaining balance will be paid out.
Please note that replacement cards are sent with DAO and Rejsekort & Rejseplan A/S cannot guarantee delivery times. Therefore, stay updated on DAO’s website regarding expected delivery times.
Monday 29 June 2026 is the last day you can check in with the physical Rejsekort.
29 June 2026 until 23:59 is the last day you can travel with the physical Rejsekort in:
• buses, metro, local trains and light rail on Zealand, Lolland, Falster and Møn
• DSB trains across the country and to Hyllie, Triangeln and Malmö C in Sweden
• GoCollective trains in Jutland and on Funen
29 June 2026 is the last day you can
• top up your physical Rejsekort until 23:59. However, please note that card readers at stations/platforms are only updated approximately every fifth hour, and card readers on buses are only updated approximately once a day. You must therefore use top-up via Self-Service at least 5 hours (for train/metro/light rail) respectively 24 hours (for bus) before the amount can be used on your physical Rejsekort.
Therefore, also be aware of when you make your final manual top-up depending on which type of transport you will be travelling with if you are travelling on the last travel day.
As the repayment period is expected to be extended after the system closes, it will for example be an advantage for you to make sure not to top up much more than you know you need for travelling on the last travel day.
• buy a cash ticket in a Rejsekort ticket machine.
30 June 2026 the Rejsekort system officially closes, and you can no longer travel with the physical Rejsekort. However, you can complete a journey on 30 June if you check in before midnight on 29 June.
27 June 2026 is the last day you can use the Check Udvej app for a forgotten check-out.
16 July 2026 is the last day you can pay overdue invoices via Self-Service.
23 July 2026 is the last day you can log in to Self-Service and do the following:
• Update your contact information
• View and download your travel history
How you can travel in the future
Here you can see your options for travelling by bus, train, metro and light rail in the future:
• Rejsekort app: Check in and out in the app and pay continuously for your journeys at the same price you know from the physical Rejsekort.
• Basiskort (physical card): Check in and out at card readers at the same price you know from the physical Rejsekort. Choose between a personal or anonymous Basiskort.
• Rejsebillet app: Buy single tickets, commuter passes and special tickets in the app. If you travel with a Youth Card (Ungdomskort), you can also get it digitally in the app.
Your balance is automatically transferred to your NemKonto.
If you have money remaining when the physical Rejsekort closes, we will automatically transfer the amount to your NemKonto as quickly as possible. If you have an Anonymous Rejsekort, however, you must request the money to be paid out yourself. Read more here.
Remaining amount
If you wait to close your card until after 30 June 2026, and you have money on the card when it closes, the money is automatically transferred to your NemKonto as soon as possible.
Note: Even if you close the card, you still have access to Self-service and can view your travel history and registered information.
Go to guide: How to close your Rejsekort Personal.
Under certain conditions, you can have the remaining card price paid out. The remaining card price is the value that the card represents in relation to when you purchased it.
When the Rejsekort system closes on 30 June 2026, your Rejsekort closes at the same time, and under the conditions below you can have the remaining card price paid out.
Conditions for payment of remaining card price:
When you bought your personal Rejsekort, you paid 50 kroner for the card itself.
A Rejsekort is valid for 5 years regardless of type.
When the physical Rejsekort partially closes on 29 May 2026 (even though you opt in to continue travelling with your Rejsekort after 28 May 2026), there may be some validity remaining on the card that you cannot use.
If the card was purchased no later than 14 December 2024, you can get your proportional remaining card price refunded.
If the card was purchased from 15 December 2024, you will not receive any remaining card price refunded.
You will only be informed of the final amount for the remaining card price when the repayment takes place after June 2026.
The remaining card price will always be less than what you paid for the card.
Read the applicable card terms and conditions at any time for more information here.
If you want the remaining card price paid out
This only applies if your card was purchased no later than 14 December 2024:
• You must not close the card now.
• Wait until your physical Rejsekort automatically closes on 30 June 2026.
If you wish to close the card before June 2026
• You can have the card closed and have the money on it paid out.
• You cannot get money back for the card itself (remaining card price) – even if you would normally be entitled to it.
Stop Top-up agreement
Your Top-up agreement automatically closes when the physical Rejsekort closes on 30 June 2026.
On 29 June 2026 it is possible to top up your Rejsekort until 23:59 pm, but please note that card readers at stations/platforms are only updated approximately every five hours, and card readers on buses are only updated approximately once a day.
You should therefore use top-up via Self-service at least 5 hours (for train/metro/light rail) and 24 hours (for bus) before the amount is to be used on Rejsekort.
Therefore, also be aware of when you make a manual top-up at the latest depending on which type of transport you will travel with if you travel on 29 June 2026.
It will for example be an advantage for you to ensure that you stop your Top-up agreement well in advance so that the system does not automatically top up shortly before the Rejsekort system closes, as the repayment period is longer after the system closes.
If you wish to stop your Top-up agreement before 30 June 2026 to avoid having money on the card that you must wait to get back, you must do so via Self-service. Guide: Stop Top-up agreement.

Alternatives to the physical Rejsekort
For those of you who prefer a physical card when travelling by public transport, a physical alternative will be introduced, namely the Basiskort.
If you have a personal Rejsekort, we recommend that you switch to the Rejsekort app when the physical Rejsekort closes. With the Rejsekort app, you get many of the same functions and options that you know from your physical Rejsekort. The app can be used by everyone, regardless of whether you are a child, young person, adult, pensioner both under and over 67 years of age, or have a disability. Here you can read more about the Rejsekort app, and you can download it in the App Store or Google Play.
You can also choose the physical card alternative, the Basiskort. The card can be used to travel if you are an adult, a young person over 18 years of age, a pensioner both under and over 67 years of age or have a disability. Later in 2026 it will also be possible for children and for those of you who wish to travel anonymously to travel with the Basiskort. Here you can read more about the Basiskort and where you order it.
If your child has a physical Rejsekort, it will also be possible to use the physical Basiskort for children. You can read more on this page: Basiskort for children
