The physical Rejsekort will close on 29 May 2026. This means that you will no longer be able to travel using your Rejsekort.
We recommend that you close your Rejsekort already now and download either the Rejsekort app or Rejsebillet, depending on the type of Rejsekort you have.
For those who, for various reasons, either cannot or do not wish to use an app to pay for tickets, a physical alternative will be available, namely the Basiskort.
The following dates are important to remember if you choose to continue travelling with your physical Rejsekort until May 2026:
19 March 2026 is the last day you can buy/order a new physical Youth Card.
11 April 2026 is the last day you can buy/order a new physical Rejsekort Personal, Flex, Commuter Combi, and Commuter Pass.
19 May 2026 is the last day you can order a replacement card for Rejsekort Personal, Flex, Commuter Combi, and Commuter Pass if you lose your physical Rejsekort. The price of a replacement card is the same as for a new card: DKK 50. If you order a replacement card, you will not receive a proportional refund of the remaining card price when Rejsekort closes – only any remaining balance will be paid out.
Please note that replacement cards are sent by DAO, and Rejsekort & Rejseplan A/S cannot guarantee delivery times. Therefore, make sure to stay updated on expected delivery times on DAO’s website.
You can already now start using one or more of our other solutions instead of ordering a new physical Rejsekort, which can only be used up to and including 28 May 2026.
28 May 2026 is the last day you can:
-
travel with your physical Rejsekort, as both cards and validators (the blue points) will close. This applies to all physical Rejsekort. You can check in with your physical Rejsekort until 28 May 2026 at 23:59.
-
top up your physical Rejsekort until 23:59. Please note that card readers at stations/platforms are only updated approximately every five hours, and card readers on buses are only updated approximately once a day. You must therefore top up via Self Service at www.rejsekort.dk at least 5 hours (for train/metro/light rail) or 24 hours (for bus) before the amount can be used on your physical Rejsekort. Please also pay attention to when you make your last manual top-up, depending on the type of transport you will be using, if you are travelling on 28 May 2026. As the refund period is expected to be extended after the system closes, it may, for example, be beneficial to ensure that you do not top up with more than you know you will need for travel on the final day.
-
purchase a new period or a new area for an existing Commuter Card or Rejsekort with Commuter Combo until 23:59. Please note that card readers at stations/platforms are only updated approximately every five hours, and card readers on buses are only updated approximately once a day. You must therefore renew via Self Service at www.rejsekort.dk at least 5 hours (for train/metro/light rail) or 24 hours (for bus) before the period is to be used on the Rejsekort. Please also pay attention to when you make your last manual renewal, depending on the type of transport you will be using, if you are travelling on 28 May 2026. As the refund period is expected to be extended after the system closes, it may, for example, be beneficial to ensure that you do not renew a period that extends beyond 28 May 2026.
-
order a replacement card for a School Pass if you have lost the old one. You will receive a Basiskort as a replacement.
-
buy a new Rejsekort Anonymous, School Pass and Rejsekort Corporate. However, we encourage you to consider one of our alternatives instead, as 28 May 2026 is also the last day of travel with the physical Rejsekort. Read more about your options here.
-

-
