Why Basiskort?
The physical Rejsekort will be discontinued in May 2026.
The technology behind the blue check-in points you know from stations and buses is expiring and therefore needs to be phased out.
Many travelers are already choosing to download either the Rejsekort app to avoid plastic cards and top-ups or the Rejsebillet app for ticket purchases, commuter cards, and Youth Cards.
However, it must always be possible for travelers in Denmark to buy a ticket for public transport.
That’s why the physical Basiskort will become a possible replacement for your physical Rejsekort.
Who is Basiskort for?
The physical Basiskort is an alternative for those who cannot or do not wish to use an app when traveling.
If you don’t have a smartphone, feel uneasy about digital media, or simply want 100% anonymity, you will be able to choose the new physical card—Basiskort—during 2026.
In 2026, we will launch this new type of card along with new Check Points—the yellow stands—for checking in and out on buses and at stations.
We are testing all Check Points
You may already see the new yellow Check Points in selected Midttrafik and Movia buses and at a few train and metro stations. But they are not yet in use. Starting in early 2026, the yellow Check Points and the new physical Basiskort will be ready for use nationwide.
