Why Basiskort?
Basiskort will launch in early 2026, well ahead of the physical Rejsekort closing in May 2026.
The technology behind the familiar blue check-in points at stations and on buses is reaching its end of life, which means it has to be phased out.
Many travellers are already switching to digital solutions—either the Rejsekort app to avoid plastic cards and manual top-ups, or the Rejsebillet app for ticket purchases, commuter passes, and Youth Cards.
But it must always be possible to buy a ticket for public transport in Denmark.
That’s why the physical Basiskort will be introduced as an alternative to your current Rejsekort.
Who is Basiskort for?
Basiskort is for you if you don’t have the option—or simply don’t want—to use an app when travelling.
If you don’t own a smartphone, feel uneasy about using an app, or prefer to travel 100% anonymously, you’ll be able to choose the new physical card in 2026: Basiskort.
You can travel anonymously by, for example, buying a Basiskort with cash at a 7-Eleven, topping it up with cash, and travelling without linking a payment card.
